Current Research

Liquid crystals are molecules that can exist in a phase of matter between that of a crystalline solid and an isotropic liquid. This liquid crystalline phase has many interesting properties that have been widely exploited in the realm of commercial display technologies. My research focuses on how these same properties can be utilized to engineer liquid crystal interfaces capable of detecting and reporting the presence of biological targets of interest.
