Current Research

The goal of my research is to apply Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) to determine the secondary structure degree of compaction of ribosome-bound nascent proteins to explore whether ApoHmpH, a prokaryotic globin, folds co-translationally or after its release from the ribosome. I will use E. coli cell-free systems to generate equilibrium populations of ribosome stalled ApoHmpH.
