Mammary Gland Development in Calves

I am studying mammary gland development and physiology overall. My main research will be following calves from the day they are born until after their first lactation. I will be tracking mammary gland development through ultrasound imaging and biopsies, which will be combined with body biometric measurements, genetic information, and growth curve parameters to predict reproductive and production performance of first lactation cows. This research will provide an important tool for earlier and optimal selection of top-producing animals in diary herds.
