Label-free single-molecule resolution of solution-phase biomolecule conformation

Questions about solution-phase biomolecule conformation and how conformation changes in response to a perturbation are central to molecular biology studies. A fast, benchtop method of assessing biomolecule conformation at the single-molecule level is poised to significantly improve upon current structural biology approaches. My work is focused on the development of optical microcavities capable of rapid, label-free hydrodynamic profiling of single, freely diffusing biomolecules.
