Identifying mRNA targets of the RNA-binding protein Bicaudal-C during vertebrate development
Post-transcriptional control of gene expression is critical for embryonic development. RNA-binding
proteins are key regulators of post-transcriptional events. In the Sheets lab, we focus on the RNA-binding
protein Bicaudal-C (Bicc1), a highly conserved translational repressor. Previous work indicates that Bicc1
contributes to development through regulation of its target mRNAs. Our lab has previously identified
Bicc1 target mRNAs. In my project, I use a combination of conventional and newly developed techniques
to identify additional Bicc1 target mRNAs.
